Overturning of Roe v Wade a ‘major setback’ on women’s rights

Minister for Women and Finance Katy Gallagher says the US Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade is a “major setback” on women’s rights to access healthcare.

The landmark Roe v Wade ruling gave women the constitutional right to abortion in the US.

“I would also say this hasn’t been front and centre of Australian politics and that’s a good thing,” Ms Gallagher told Sky News Australia.

“This matter has been dealt with at states and territories and there’s laws in place to protect women going through this very difficult process.”
